Bingo! - Come play Bingo, May 17th from 6:30 - 8! There will be no Bingo in June, July or August. The Knights of Columbus will resume hosting Bingo at Knights of Columbus Hall (1319 Brown Trail, Bedford) in September, and on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 6:30 - 8. (The 3rd Thursday of September is the 20th.)

The Special Olympics Texas State Games - At UTA's Maverick Stadium in Arlington, May 24th - 27th. Opening Ceremonies for the State Games is really something to see and definately worth the trip! They will be on Friday, May 25th at 7 PM at Maverick Stadium. Come cheer on the Special Friends State Athletes!!

Swimming - Begins June 9th from 9 - 10:30 AM at Midway Rec Center, 300 W. Midway in Euless. Wear your suit, bring goggles, a towel and sun screen. The Area Swim Meet will be held on August 4th at the Keller Natatorium. Call Ami Eglintine (817-354-6354) for more details. Volunteers are needed at practice -- please help! Flag Football: Organizational Meeting will be held on Saturday, June 2nd from 9 - 10 AM at the practice field on the south side of Harwood Junior High, 3000 Martin Dr., Bedford. Practices will be on Saturdays from 8 - 10 AM beginning July 28th. The Area competition will be held October 6th. Contact Coach Jessie Phillips (lghtning38@aol.com or 817-542-7875) for more details.

Rotary Club Luncheon: June 19th. - All Special Friends Area Competitors - Look for your invitation in the mail soon...DON’T FORGET TO RSVP!!

Bocce - Practice will begin July 17th on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00-7:15 PM at Chisholm Park in Hurst. The Bocce competition is on Sept. 8th. Contact Coach Charlie Burda (charlie@cdsconstruction.net) or Bill Wallis (bill.wallis@tx.rr.com) for more information.

Softball - Beginning July 25th practice will be on Wednesdays, from 6:30 - 8PM and on Saturdays from 10 - 11:30AM. Join us at the baseball field on the south side of Harwood Junior High, 3000 Martin Dr., Bedford. Classifications are on Sept. 8th, and Softball Competition is on Sept. 22nd. Contact Coach Jessie Phillips (lghtning38@aol.com or 817-542-7875) for more details. Jessie will also hold optional batting practice on Saturday mornings on June 2nd, 9th, 23rd & 30th from 10 - 11:30 AM.

Bowling - Will begin after Labor Day. Details to come in an August postcard.

Volleyball - Will start the beginning of October. Details to come in an August postcard.

Special Friends is an informal organization of people with intellectual disabilities who enjoy having fun!  The people in Special Friends participate in organizations such as Special Olympics, Knights of Columbus Bingo, and other activities.

The purpose of this site is to share information among Special Friends participants and to celebrate their accomplishments and successes by sharing their experiences.  Learn more about  player participation!
